PPC Coach Review! Learn Affiliate Marketing!

The PPC Coach Review

I have been a member of PPC-Coach.com for over 6 months and have learned everything needed to create an affiliate marketing business based around pay per click advertising. This PPC Coach Review is meant to be for anyone seeking guidance in the world of internet marketing and affiliate marketing.

What exactly is PPC Coach?

PPC Coach is a members-only coaching site where you can learn the art of Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising from the very beginning. Created in 2007 by PPC expert Will Haimerl, PPC Coach guides members via an open format forum from start to finish. Members will receive access to new methods of ppc advertising each month. The early month lessons start out very easy and are meant to provide a base of understanding. As time progresses, members will start to learn more complex ways of advertising with pay per click traffic. Each lesson includes an accompanying discussion forum. This allows users to spin ideas off each other and helps people get over common hurdles when getting started.

Eventually, you will have a very nice arsenal of advertising methods under your belt. Each method requires you to learn a different aspect of PPC advertising and affiliate marketing in general.

PPC Forum

The entire PPC training site is actually a gigantic web forum full of friendly and helpful affiliate marketers. All members interact and learn from each other. Currently, there are a few thousand active members to interact with and several hundred-thousand threads to read! The forum is separated into many different sub-forums that cover different subjects. Some of the more popular sub-forums you will be visiting include:

  • The Main Forum
  • The Newbie Forum
  • The Traffic Sources Forum(s)
  • The Monthly Method Forum(s)

For me, the best part of these forums is that I could see that I was not alone in my quest to learn affiliate marketing. I saw other member’s successes and failures and learned from them. I can ask questions about different strategies and receive a handful of helpful responses within minutes. This alone is all the motivation I need to keep moving forward.

PPC Coach Video Tutorials

One of the best parts of PPC Coach is the video lessons. Just about all of the pay per click training methods include video tutorials. Each one is guided and narrated by the PPC Coach himself. These videos add an extra ‘something’ and are great for visual learners. They are entertaining and guide you step-by-step through the entire process.  You will be able to see, first hand, how a PPC campaign is set-up, launched, tracked, and maintained for each method.

The monthly methods aren’t the only topics that receive video tutorials. PPC Coach has created separate video lessons for much of the “set-up” steps needed to get a campaign started. This includes videos for:

  • Installing WordPress on your website
  • Installing Themes and Plugins
  • Creating tracking links and redirects
  • And more…

PPC Coach Tools

Along with your membership, you gain access to hundreds of dollars worth of internet marketing tools. Each tool has a specific function to aid you in pay per click advertising. The PPC Coach suggests, and I agree, that you try each method a few times before using any of the tools. By doing this, you realize how much time and energy you are saving when you use the tools. Some of the tools available to members include:

  • Landing Site Generator
  • PPC Coach Tracker
  • Poll Bot 2000
  • Minisite Generator
  • Keyword Research Tool
  • Social Ads Tool – Facebook Ads Manager
  • And more…

Who Should Get a Membership?

Using SEO to fund your PPC Campaigns

So, in attempt to keep myself from spending my rent money on PPC campaigns, I started learning SEO as an additional way to make money online. In case you don’t know, SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. Optimizing your website so that it ranks high on the search engines for your keywords is completely free of cost. All you need is time and patience. Basically, it’s composed of two separate elements.

The first is On-Site Optimization, which entails creating your pages around your keywords. This step of the process isn’t very hard at all. Once you know what the search engines are looking for, it will become the easiest part of your SEO endeavor.

The second element consists of Off-Site Optimization, aka link building. This is where you’ll spend most of your time while trying to rank your website for a specific keyword. You will want to obtain as many relevant links to your site as possible. Well, how does one do that? You can gain links by commenting on blogs, posting on forums, submitting your site to web directories, social bookmarking, submitting to article directories, and creating Web 2.0 properties (think Squidoo  and Hub Pages). The purpose of getting all these links is to show the search engines that you are the most relevant website for a particular keyword. Links are the currency that will buy your way to the top of the ranks.

Just like PPC, you can spend years learning all the aspects of SEO. In my opinion, the best way to learn is to just get started.

Some of the resources I used to teach myself include:

If you have the time to dedicate to optimizing your sites, you will benefit hand over fist. Once you rank in the top few spots for your keyword, you will enjoy relevant and free traffic to your site. This means more money for you to run your PPC Campaigns.

PPC Coach Update 1

Well, it appears that the summer took up a lot more of my time than expected. It was enough to put this website on the backburner. I’m fairly certain that no one is heartbroken that they haven’t received an update in the past three months, but I figured I would apologize anyway.

The PPC Coach has been very busy over the past few months. The site has been expanded into three separate modules:

  • Affiliate Marketing Edition
  • PPC Trainer (Business Edition)
  • 1-on-1 Consulting Services

The most notable change is the merger with PPCtrainer.com. This “module” is geared towards businesses who are looking to advertise their products or services via pay per click advertising. Basically, PPC Coach just doubled in size. Not only did the site add a great new resource, but they expanded overseas. PPC Trainer is based out of the UK, which gives PPC Coach worldwide recognition.

Of course, the original affiliate marketing tips and training section is still alive and well. The newest update is a brand new Month 1 training module that focuses on getting cheap clicks. The site boasts that they were able to get clicks under $.01 on Facebook. If that’s something that can be replicated, well, it will pay the training costs off by itself in no time at all. This new section won’t be available to the 14-day trail members. You’ll have to wait until you’re a full-fledged member to get that info.

Finally, the PPC Coach is offering 1-on-1 consulting services. This edition is a fine tuned option for your business. Consulting is available via Skype, AIM, or Gotomeeting. The topics that can be covered are endless. If you have a specific affiliate marketing issue that you need resolved, the PPC Coach can probably help. Pricing for this edition varies on what is needed. If you need more information on this, you can e-mail me or check out PPC Coach.

That’s it for now. I promise to keep this updated more often!

Keyword Research 101

Keyword Research 101: What You Need to Know!

Earlier this week, I wrote an overview on PPC campaigns. If you read it, you probably have come to the conclusion that keyword research is absolutely essential to any successful PPC project. Keyword research is a topic that is beaten to death by bloggers and PPC training sites. You can find a hundred different approaches out there. The truth is simple. All of those strategies probably work in one way or another. However, you don’t need all of those advanced strategies when you are getting started. Just like anything else, you need a solid basic understanding of the concept. That is just what I’m going to try to provide you here today. Keyword research should be your first stop when you are attempting to learn affiliate marketing through PPC training.

The three general phases when doing keyword research include brainstorming, competition, and testing. Affiliate marketing experts will release guides that get into the minutiae of keyword research, but you only really need to have a grasp on these phases to get started. It’s better to learn by doing instead of wasting time reading all the information available on a particular topic.

ppc campaign keyword research

Brainstorming Phase

The first thing you’ll want to do for keyword research is to spend a good amount of time making a list of all the possible keywords and phrases that relate, even marginally, to your website or niche. One of the most profound things that I learned at PPC Coach is that I should be spending the most time during campaign creation on keyword research. Think about it; these words and phrases are going to make or break your project. They are the driving force for your project, so why not give the process a bunch of time to make sure you do it right?

After listing every word or phrase that you can come up with, start asking other people what comes to mind when they think of your product or niche. Their responses can offer great insight into what people are looking for when searching for a product, service, or niche related to yours. Their feedback is gold, so add any new keywords to your list.

Another way of coming up with keyword ideas is to visit competing websites and look for any common topics or themes. If you find something that is repeated often in their content, it means that those phrases are working for them. Add these to your list.

Competition Phase

After you have your master list of keywords, you want to research how realistic it is to compete for these keywords. There is no reason to go after a keyword that is already being dominated by a huge corporation with a budget that can crush you. You want to look for keywords that have a high monthly search volume while having a low-to-medium amount of competition.

I have seen many, many keyword research tools advertised on the web. The fact is that they ALL pull their data from one source: Google Keyword Tool. There is no need for expensive keyword tools when first getting started with pay per click. You can gain all the competition data you need from the free Google Keyword Tool.

Once you have ventured over to the Google Keyword Tool, you will want to enter each of your keywords one-by-one into the tool and see what kind of data you come up with. Each keyword search will provide you with how many searches it gets per month and how much competition exists. As a general rule of thumb, you want at least 1000 exact-match searches per month with low-to-medium competition. It may be helpful to create a spreadsheet to keep track of all this data and sort it according to your needs.

Along with the data for your keyword, Google will display a list of related keywords and their data as well. Take a quick peek at the list for each keyword and see if anything jumps out as something that will work for your PPC campaign. Add these to your list.

After completing your competition research, you should have a significantly smaller list of keywords that match your niche and have an acceptable amount of competition. These are the keywords you’re going to use for your campaign.

Testing Phase

The final phase of keyword research is testing. To start, you’re going to want to assign a budget for each keyword on your list. The budget will depend entirely on the product or service you’re selling through your website. If it’s a modest product cost ($5-$10), I would make each keywords budget about 1.5x the cost of the product or service. Keywords for products that are more expensive need to be researched more thoroughly. This process is beyond the scope of this article, but the idea is to set a budget that will give you enough of an informed decision on whether or not each particular keyword is converting for you.

Once you have determined your budget for each keyword, you can go ahead and run your campaign. Check your stats about once a day to see your activity. After a few days, you should have some significant data. Once you see that certain keywords are at or have slightly surpassed your keyword budget, you will want to see if they have converted in any sales. If they have, then you will want to “clear” their budget and start from scratch. If a particular keyword has surpassed its budget and has resulted in no conversions, then you’re going to want to cut it loose as soon as possible. There is no reason to keep a failing keyword, no matter how much you thought it would work.

Hopefully, after a week or so of running your campaign, you should have a good list of consistently converting keywords. These are your gold that you should defend with everything you are. Cut out all under performing keyword and throw your budget at the ones you know to convert.

Remember, keyword research is part science and part art. It will take time to get used to what works and what doesn’t. The steps in this article are meant to provide you with a solid base of understanding. Once you feel comfortable with the basic process, you will want to develop more advanced strategies. Many of these strategies can be found at PPC Coach.
